About Me
I am a music teacher based in Western North Carolina with over 15 years of experience teaching both privately and in school settings. I primarily offer piano lessons, but I also teach guitar and bass, and have a background in a wide range of string instruments.
My teaching philosophy centers on helping kids build confidence in their abilities. I believe music education should be tailored to each student’s interests and learning style, and I focus on the music that inspires them and adapt lessons to their unique strengths. My goal is to create an encouraging environment where students can grow at their own pace—and enjoy the process.
Over the years, I’ve taught at schools including Carolina Day School and French Broad River Academy, arranged and conducted musicals, led group classes, and done producing and recording work. I have performed in a variety of venues, from local stages to Carnegie Hall and the White House. I was also honored to be named Teacher of the Year at Elevate Life and Art, an Asheville homeschool co-op.
Lessons take place in my home studio, located on a 10 acre family property I share with my wife, our two daughters, and extended family. It’s a relaxed and welcoming space where students can feel comfortable exploring music and building skills.
